About the program
APEX Accelerator counselors are mandated to assist their clients – potential Federal government contractors – with becoming Government Industrial Base (GIB) “ready,” and in particular, Defense Industrial Base (DIB) “ready.” Part of GIB / DIB readiness includes implementing the basic cybersecurity protections for Federal Contract Information (FCI) as codified in the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) clause 52.204-21. The Department of Defense (DoD) Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 1 requires a DIB member to self-assess, report, and affirm adherence to FAR 52.204-21. There are no formal resources – aside from Project Spectrum –to assist the APEX Accelerator counselors with assisting their clients in becoming GIB / DIB “cybersecurity ready.” Totem Technologies, in partnership with Govology, aims to establish a set of resources to empower these individuals to meet their mandate.
Other government agencies and private-sector entities may have similar current or future mandates to assist clients, so the proposed certification program below would also be offered to additional individuals in select agencies or entities.
Program Purpose
To ensure an individual has the necessary knowledge and tools to properly assist GIB / DIB members in their journey to cybersecurity “readiness”, Totem Technologies will offer a “CMMC Level 1 Facilitator” certification. Individuals in the following cadres will be eligible for the certification:
- APEX Accelerator counselors,
- Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) advisors,
- National Contract Management Association (NCMA) professionals,
- Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and
- Prime Contractor supply chain managers.
